NELS, Bruxelles

Founded by photographer Edouard and Paul Nels in 1898 from the address 35, rue de Vienne, Bruxelles. The firm became the largest producer of postcards in Belgium, topographical at first together with maps and guidebooks. Through Edouard's ill health, Nels passed the running of the firm (1907) and then the firm itself (1913) to his brother-in-law, Ernest Thill. The round Nels logo dates from this time. The brand has continued intermittently into modern times with varied subjects and new (French) owners.
