J.A.D., Strassburg i.E.

The first example card shows the railway bridge which crosses the Rhine to Kehl in Germany, built in 1861. It lasted with various incidents until it was destoyed by the Germans near the end of WW2. The title of the card includes i.E., the E is Elsaß-Lothringen which is the the German name of Alsace-Lorraine.

Of interest because so many postcard publishers use a picture of a flying stork as a logo, the cards here show a local business also using such a logo. These images all look very similar! Alsace has always been proud of the number of storks which live there. The second card gives more details of the business. I think it is just advertising on these cards rather than being the publisher, as its adverts are printed over the normal print of the card. I have seen other views of Strassburg by this publisher but not so far including 7 Quai St Jean. It is now a boulangerie/patisserie.
