Manuel opened a photographic and portrait studio in Paris in 1900 with his brother Gaston (they later parted). Many postcards in the period before 1914 bear his signature. Work expanded rapidly to include portraits of the well known, then (1910) news, then (the 1920s) commercial fashion. The studio became Paris' largest, and is well covered online.
The "H Manuel" can be in handwritten capital letters (typically on earlier cards), cursive, or cursive with either H or Henri.
