Montbard is a small town inland in eastern France, near Dijon. H.G. Daloz was a photographer and painter operating from cabinet card days, who offered portraits as photos, in paint or in charcoal. The series of the example card is not typical of his work, he may or may not have been the publisher but essentially he took the photos and they were printed at Nancy. More typical are photos of local views, printed in collotype by different firms in Nancy. His own credit usually includes the word peintre as in the example. The laurel leaves don't seem to occur very often, it occurs on his early photos and trade cards, I think it is a professional symbol.
