C. W. Faulkner & Co Ltd, 79 Golden Lane, London E.C.

Faulkner & Co. Ltd became a prolific postcard publisher. The firm operated c.1870-1920. The example card is a scene from As You Like It, drawn around 1900. The artist's conception of Rosalind, here dressed as a boy, looks to me more like a girl in the 1930s. As issued the card has no identification but the reissue gives the firm's name. Faulkner issued several series of Shakespeare postscards, see Shakespeare Cards by Publishers Other Than Tuck. Quite separately Faulkner produced a pack of Shakespeare Playing Cards, chromolithographic printing was done in Germany by B. Dondorf. In fact Faulkner produced postcards, playing cards, jigsaws and lots of other indoor games especially for children, see here.
