C. Jeangette, Paris

The Metro site (see refs) gives "C. Jeangette (1904-1920), 67 rue Rochechouard, Paris, France. A publisher that produced a variety of printed material including calendars and postcards. These cards depicted views and actresses as black & white, monotone, and dutone collotypes....".

According to the Dictionnaire de la Cartophilie francophone, Paris, P. Armand, 1990, Jeangette described himself as the oldest (first?) publisher of postcards in Paris. Published series include Nos jolie artistes, Emois juvéniles, Sorcières au sabbat, Amazones, Aux courses, 6 aquarelles de Smyrl, etc. He supplied post cards that the periodical La Carte Illustrée offered to its readers with each issue. Other address: 171 & 213b, bd St-Germain, Paris.

He also produced view cards with the marque a simple printed C.J., as described at www.corpusetampois.com/cpa-es-cjeangette.html.

The first example card is one of a number of photos, by Reutlinger and others, of similarly clad artistes. The second shows the St Germain address in the logo. The third is a WW1 patiotic card. By this time Jeangette gives his address as Paris - Tours.
