Maison de la Bonne Presse, 5 rue Bayard Paris.

A French written and audiovisual press company created in 1870 by the Catholic religious congregation of the Augustins of the Assumption, essentially to counter secularism in French society. This congregation, after various intermediate manouevres, still owns the group. In 1896 a 'visual education' department was created and even it produced its own Magic Lantern projector.

Its publications are well covered online. Since 1969 its name changed to Bayard Presse and then to just Bayard.

The first example card is from the series "ceux de l'arrière" (there were at least four series) issued during WW1. Cards were issued uncoloured, some like the example were coloured by the buyer.

The next examples are earlier, No 429 was posted in 1903. Le Noel was a magazine for children and teens, produced by Le Maison de la bonne Presse. The magazines contained entertaining and improving material - text, pictures and music. The cards were a supplement to the magazine.

"Visé" indicates a date of 1915-1918.
