Founded in 1898 by the
brothers Kohn in Vienna. Kohn first published art postcards dealing the city, celebrities and caricatures, art cards and greeting cards.
The "I" apparently refers to postal district 1 in Vienna where the firm was based (see the TPA site).
The publishing house was "Aryanized" in 1938. In 1942 the Kohns were sent to a concentration camp, and didn't survive. After the Second World War, the publishing house was continued by the daughter Minna Kohn-Pixner (1919-2003), who had fled to England in 1939 and 1946 returned to Vienna.
