The Ernst Schneider Connection

Thousands of photographic postcards of women and children are cataloged on the Vintage German Postcard and Ross Verlag Image Archive sites. A study of the cards reveals significant similarities among them. Evidence exists to suggest the similarities often reflect the work of Berlin photographer, Ernst Schneider.

This sequence of slides and pictures are a presentation showing how evidence in the pictures themselves leads to information about the photographer. Though mainly about Ernst Schneider it also includes facts revealed about some of the other photographers of the time whose work appears on postcards.

Many of the images within this sequence are provided courtesy of Historical Picture Postcards - Osnabrück University. Others are from private collections. A few were retrieved from Delcampe auctions.
